I have just been told that yet another beautiful, mature tree has just been cut down in Southchurch Park by the cafe (near the pond) and at the moment the trunk stump is still there! Is there any chance of getting a photographer down there to take some pictures and maybe we can check out the "fatal fungus" for ourselves?!! As you know the Council doesn't hang about when it comes to destroying the evidence so I am appealing to Councilbust to investigate ASAP please? I have also been told today that all the trees lining the road by the side of Gunners Park, going down to the seafront, are also due to be felled PLUS the remaining trees in what's left of Gunners Park as apparently a new housing development has been approved? Also, I am still waiting for a reply from Southend Council re the trees along the so-called Golden Mile which I have photos of (from last week before the Air Show) with bulldozers, fencing, tools, digging works etc around them which show that the Council is making no effort whatsoever to protect them or their root systems. I want to know if they are going to rip those out too to make way for more dying palm trees (which were apparently being stealthily replaced by Tree Fellahs before the Air Show last week)? Please could Councilbust look into this and let me know if you want to see my photos or email evidence of how the Council lies, ignores and fobs people off! Regards. Jackie Callow Hello.
