Stop Airport Entension Now (SAEN), the pressure group opposed to the development of Southend Airport, held a fundraiser on Saturday 8th May in Leigh.
The group was recently under police investigation over allegations that it had distributed leaflets that broke election law.
Spokesman Denis Walker denied the allegations, and no charge was brought.
SAEN have continued to campaign against the expansion of Southend Airport, this month with a Shop Window Quiz and a stall in Leigh Broadway.
Organisers of the event said that the day was successful and that membership and support had been increased.
Denis Walker said: “It just goes to show that the public were prepared to stop to express their views and concerns.
“Not one person spoke up in favour of the airport plans, but many still did not understand the implications.”

If they do not understand the implications, they should visit the Airport terminal, Airport website and council website. SAEN have consistantly twisted the facts to suit their own agenda.
