In a bid to help parents find out more about benefits available to them, Southend Borough Council will show a short film at the Odeon cinema in Southend.
The film illustrates the benefits available to parents looking to return to work.
It is part of a Government funded project which aims to encourage more parents to take up the childcare element of Working Tax Credits and return to work with greater ease.
The project, called Go-East, is being run by Southend Council’s Children and Learning department.
Cllr Roger Hadley, who is responsible for Children and Learning, said:
“We hope as many parents as possible will come along to see the film.
“There will also be professional staff available at the event to answer any questions and also to give advice and support.
“This film will help launch our ongoing project to make people more aware of the help on offer, if both parents wish to go back to work.
“We want to do our best to help families climb out of poverty.
“The project will also have the dual benefit of helping to boost childcare business who may face difficulties because of the low numbers of children attending.”
The film will be shown four times between 10am and 11am at the Odeon cinema on Tuesday 16th March.
Viewing of the film is free if charge.
