Members of the Saxon King In Priory Park committee last night held up a Council meeting for 20 minutes by throwing campaign literature into the chamber.
The group were protesting against the redevelopment of Cuckoo Corner.
Mark Sharp, a member of SKIPP, spoke to Councilbust.com today. He said:
“We had a large number of supporters present. We were there to listen to Judith McMarn’s questions about Cuckoo Corner.
“We waited until Anna Waite had answered the questions, and then we tried to have our say.
“We did not submit our questions 10 days prior to the meeting [this is the normal procedure for questions from the public] as we did not have time.
“We unfurled banners that called for Anna Waite and Nigel Holdcroft to resign and attempted to say our piece, but we were not allowed to do so.
“The council evacuated the chamber immediately. Security asked us to leave and we refused.
“After 20 minutes the police arrived and asked us to leave, which we did.”
