Southend Patriot, the BNP support blog for Southend, has restricted access to invited readers only.
Previously, the blog, hosted on free blogging software Blogger, was open to any reader and easy to find through any internet search engine.
After a Councilbust.com feature in December 2009 and a discussion of the website in Councilbust.com’s first podcast, the blog is no longer available to members of the public.
Instead, visitors to the web address are greeted with a page telling them that the content is only available to Blogger users who have been invited to read.
Councilbust.com has been unable to contact the blog’s author, “Victor”, for comment.
Southend Patriot, a blog about Nationalism in Southend, was recently listed on BNP leaflets distributed in Southend as a source of information about the party. Despite this, there was a disclaimer on the site claiming that Southend Patriot was not officially endorsed by or affiliated with the BNP.
Southend Patriot contained several discriminatory comments towards ethnic minorities, as well as disabled people.
