Amess unable to comment on Luty-Terry row
Spokespeople for Conservative MP for Southend West David Amess have claimed he is unable to comment on the row between Cllrs Jason Luty and Martin Terry.
A complicated spat between Eastwood Park Conservative Cllr Luty and Westborough Independent Cllr Terry has continued through the past year, and involves the Residents Association of Westborough (RAW).
Allegations of victimisation, intimidation and vandalism have been made on all sides, whilst there have also been plans for legal action as well as police involvement.
RAW members have claimed that they have complained of Cllr Luty’s behaviour to the Conservative Association and to David Amess, and also claimed that these complaints have been deliberately ignored.
A spokesperson for Mr Amess told Councilbust.com that Mr Amess’ conversations with constituents at his surgeries are “strictly private and confidential,” preventing him from commenting on any complaints in public or in the press.
The spokesperson went on to say that, due to the legal element of the issue (both councilors have plans to take legal action against each other) Mr Amess and his office are unable to comment for fear that this might “prejudice the outcome of the legal process.”
