Southend Airport to run public tours

Spokespeople for Southend Airport have announced that tours of the airport will be run in January for local residents.

The tours will be run on Tuesday 12th January next year. Each tour will last roughly one hour, and time slots are available at 10am and 2pm.

The tours will include a brief talk on the development of the airport, as well as a coach tour around the site.

The airport has been a subject of heated debate in the past few months due to plans to expand its runway and increase the number of flights operating from it.

Many residents have complained that Southend Borough Council did not properly consult residents about the expansion before going ahead with the plans.

Others have welcomed the expansion as a positive change for Southend. Members of Planes2009.Ning, a social networking site set up to show support for the development, have regularly voiced their views on the plans.

To book a place on an airport tour, contact Sam at the airport by email at enquiries@southendairport.com.
