Rochford and Southend East Conservative MP James Duddridge yesterday asked for information on male breast cancer.
Mr Duddridge wrote to the Minister for the Cabinet Office to ask how many men have died from male breast cancer in England and Wales in each year since 2005.
The MP received a reply from Karen Dunnell of the UK Statistics Authority.
The figures supplied to Mr Duddridge revealed that deaths from male breast cancer have fluctuated in the past four years.
Whilst in 2005, 82 men died from breast cancer, 69 died the following year.
In 2007, 87 men died from the disease, but by last year, the number had dipped to 62, the lowest in four years.
