Southend West Conservative MP David Amess has said that the EU election results demonstrate a national disappointment in New Labour.
The MP also said that though the EU election result was good news for the Tories, it could have been better.
Mr Amess told CouncilBust.com:
“In these turbulent political times I’m delighted that the Conservative Party vote has held up so well.
“I would of course like to have seen even more Conservatives returned in the Eastern area but three is nevertheless a good number.”
Moving to a more general analysis, Mr Amess continued:
“My overall view of the election results is that there is wide dissatisfaction with the way the government is running our country and the way the government is dealing with our involvement in the European Union.”

A 29.9% Tory vote in Southend-on-Sea is a ringing endorsement? I think not. For a party with pretensions to Government they should be doing better.
